Neither especially hot nor especially spicy, the Spanish street treat known as the churro is nonethless fun and festive. The thick (sometimes potato-based) batter is extruded from a specialized device called a churrera (Andrea the Gastronaut has a picture of it in her post on the festival; it's not unlike a Play-Doh Fun Factory), then deep-fried (above).
